Kasturi & Sons Ltd (KSL), publishers of The Hindu, is said to be foraying into the Tamil newspaper space.

When contacted, Arun Anant, CEO, The Hindu is tightlipped about the new venture, however, industry sources have confirmed the news and say that the Tamil daily is expected to be launched some time in June this year.

The Hindu has its largest base of circulation in southern India, especially in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, where it is the most widely read English daily. Headquartered at Chennai, The Hindu was published weekly when it was launched in 1878. The paper turned a daily from 1889 onwards.
