Veteran actor Zeenat Aman shared a heartfelt note on the passing of Dharmendra, calling him “a jewel of the Hindi film industry”, and remembering him as one of her most cherished co-stars.

Zeenat, who worked with Dharmendra in films such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dostana, Black Mail, Katilon Ke Kaatil and Ram Balram, said his warmth and humility made every set feel lighter.

“For an introverted personality such as myself, his down-to-earth demeanour and natural kindness were a warm comfort on set,” she said, recalling how Dharmendra often eased tense shoot moments with his effortless charm. “At times when the pressure, glitz and glam felt horribly garish, there he was with no pretences or guile. A sweet reminder that life is about the real things, not the fluff.”

Aman said she felt “blessed” to have shared screen space with him across multiple films and described him as a colleague who led with grace and sincerity. “Dharam ji was always among my favourite co-stars,” she wrote. “I am so sad to learn that the world lost him today. His legacy is cherished by millions of Indians around the world.”

Dharmendra passed away on Monday, leaving the film fraternity and fans mourning the loss of one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved icons.
