Samsung users have long complained about the “green line of death” that suddenly appears on their phone screens after a software update.

Recently many users took to social media to pull up the company after the problem resurfaced following a software update.

The issue seems to crop up in phones that haven’t been damaged and has been flagged as a recurring issue with the smartphone brand. It has also been the subject of many memes and jokes on the internet.

Seeing a green line appearing on the phone screen is considered a death knell for the device. It is usually seen after a software update or prolonged use of the phone.

Despite the recent chatter, the green line issue has been a persistent problem for four years. However, it is not limited only to Samsung phones; other brands such as One Plus, Vivo, Realme, Xiaomi and Apple are also in the dock for the same.

Reports say that the problem could be environmental as brands are working with their respective supply chains to source better-quality displays that can withstand extreme weather conditions and humidity in India.

Given the number of complaints, Samsung also offered one-time screen replacement to its users.
