YouTube is making another push to bring creator marketing closer to brand partnerships, performance measurement and commerce, with more than 30 announcements spanning creation, discovery, fandom and monetisation at its annual Made On YouTube event in New York City on Wednesday, September 23.
While several announcements aim to help creators produce and manage content, a number of the updates directly impact brands and marketers. From AI-assisted responses to brand briefs and creator discovery to video-level A/B testing and expanded shopping tools, YouTube is building more of the brand-creator workflow into the platform itself.
For marketers, one of the more significant changes is the expansion of YouTube Creator Partnerships, which is now available in 20 countries. The programme is designed to help brands discover creators, while new tools allow creators to give brand partners access to video performance through a one-click code. Brands can also put paid media behind creator content through Creator Partnerships Boost.
At the creator end, YouTube is also bringing brand pitching closer to Studio. Ask Studio will soon be able to help creators respond to brand briefs, develop proactive pitches and customise their Media Kits around a brand's objectives. The shift could reduce some of the administrative work involved in creator-brand negotiations while making YouTube Studio a more active part of the partnership process.
The bigger change, however, is around how creator content can be evaluated. YouTube is expanding its A/B testing capabilities beyond titles and thumbnails to the video itself. Creators will soon be able to test up to three different cuts of a video and assess which version performs better at holding audience attention. YouTube says creators have already conducted more than 40 million experiments on titles and thumbnails since A/B testing launched in 2024.
YouTube is also introducing dynamic thumbnails, allowing the platform to recommend among three thumbnail options to different audience segments. Ask Studio can additionally review older videos, suggest refreshed thumbnails and test them, potentially extending the life of existing creator content rather than treating a campaign video as a one-time asset.
For marketers, that moves the conversation beyond the traditional creator metrics of views, likes and engagement. If creators can test different hooks and packaging and brands can access performance data and amplify successful content, creator campaigns can increasingly be evaluated as content assets that are optimised after publication.
Commerce is another major part of the update. YouTube said its Shopping affiliate programme will expand to 35 countries by the end of the year. Its Amazon partnership, already available in the US, is also being expanded to India and Brazil in the coming weeks. Product tags will be localised for viewers across markets, while new Affiliate Campaigns will allow brands and retailers to invite creators to promote specific products with incentives such as flat fees and exclusive commission rates.
The platform is also making product discovery more conversational. Ask YouTube will allow viewers to ask questions about products while watching and receive organised recommendations, including comparison information. For brands, that places creator content closer to the consideration stage of the consumer journey, rather than leaving it primarily as an awareness channel.
Meanwhile, YouTube is changing the format possibilities available to creators. Shorts can now be organised into seasons and episodes, creating a more structured format for recurring series. The platform is also bringing Gemini-powered conversational editing to Shorts and YouTube Create, allowing creators to generate and refine edits through prompts.
Taken together, the announcements point to YouTube trying to connect more parts of the creator economy inside its own ecosystem: creator discovery, pitching, content production, audience testing, paid amplification and shopping.
For brands, the significance may lie less in any single feature and more in that growing connection. Creator content is increasingly being treated not simply as an influencer placement, but as an asset that can be discovered, tested, distributed, measured and linked to commerce within the same platform.
