Star Plus announced the launch of its app for iPhone and iPad in India and over 120 countries around the world. With this, Star Plus claims to have become India’s first GEC to make an entry into the iPad, iPhone zone. This initiative will make entertainment content available on-the-go.

Star Plus makes entertainment mobile with iPhone, iPad App

Star Plus announced the launch of its app for iPhone and iPad in India and over 120 countries around the world. With this, Star Plus claims to have become India’s first GEC to make an entry into the iPad, iPhone zone. This initiative will make entertainment content available on-the-go.

With iPhone sales topping 100 million and over 25 million iPads already sold, the Star Plus App enables viewers to download the app on to their devices from the iTunes App store and instantly start enjoying the channel’s content.

“We have always provided our growing viewers with discerning content using cutting edge technologies. Our entry into the iPad, iPhone App Zone will enable our upwardly mobile viewers to watch their best loved programs in a handheld format wherever they are and whatever they may be doing,” said Sanjay Gupta, COO, STAR India Pvt Ltd.

Lalit Bhagia, VP- Digital, STAR India, added here, “The success of the iPad and iPhone has been driven largely by the quality of content they offer in the App zone. With Star’s entry, discerning viewers will now have access to the best entertainment available in the mobile handheld arena. The app will also allow users a great video experience, details of show schedules and news and updates on their favorite show characters through daily audio blogs.”

In addition the app will offer features like, live TV, catch up on missed episodes of last two days through Video-on-Demand, updates/ news from Star Plus current and upcoming shows. A built-in interactive feature will allow users to connect with their favourite Star Plus characters through audio-blogs and pictures. Besides, the app also allows users to share the content they like with friends and family through Facebook and Twitter.

The launch of the application comes soon after STAR India announced global same-day telecast of Star Plus with English subtitles.
