Pradyumna Vyas takes over as President of World Design Organization

Pradyumna Vyas has officially assumed the role of President of the World Design Organization (WDO), following his previous positions as a board member and President-elect. In addition to his new global role, he currently serves as Senior Advisor for Design Promotion and Innovation at the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is also the former Director of the National Institute of Design (NID), where he played a key role in advancing design education in India.

The WDO held its World Design Congress earlier this month in London. On the third day of the event, the 34th General Assembly convened, during which the 2025–2027 Board of Directors was elected and Vyas was officially announced as the new President of the organization.

“As WDO enters a new chapter, I am honoured to serve as President. Together, we will strengthen our global network, champion sustainability, nurture future designers, and shape ethical digital futures. With empathy and intent, we can reaffirm design as a catalyst for innovation, equity, and well-being worldwide,” shared Vyas.

Vyas holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and was conferred an honorary Master of Arts degree by the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, UK, in 2010. From 2009 to 2019, Vyas served as Director of NID, Ahmedabad.

His contributions have earned him international recognition, including the title of 'Good Design Fellow' from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, Tokyo, in 2019. That same year, he was appointed as a ‘Distinguished Professor’ at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts during the Shanghai Global Design Summit.

Vyas serves as the jury chair for BW Businessworld’s flagship event, the Future of Design Summit and Awards.
