NeuralGarage’s VisualDub enables lip-sync for multi-language theatrical films

VisualDub, an AI-powered lip synchronisation technology developed for the film and entertainment industry, has achieved two significant global milestones following its adoption by leading Indian studios and production houses over the past 15 months, according to a press release.

VisualDub has been used to enable complete lip synchronisation of feature films into other languages, as well as for dialogue correction, allowing filmmakers and content owners to modify dialogue while maintaining natural and visually accurate lip movements.

The technology has now been deployed across some of India's largest film and entertainment companies, with its applications extending to theatrical releases, including large-format and IMAX presentations, as well as content distributed through leading global streaming platforms.

Two global milestones

VisualDub's first major milestone came with War 2, produced by YRF Studios and released in August 2025. VisualDub was used to lip-sync the entire film from Hindi into Telugu for its theatrical release, including the IMAX version.

Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film represents what VisualDub describes as the world's first instance of an AI lip-sync model being used to lip-sync an entire feature film intended for IMAX exhibition.

The film was originally shot entirely in Hindi. Despite Jr NTR being a Telugu speaker, his Telugu dialogue in the Telugu version was also lip-synced using VisualDub, demonstrating the technology's ability to create a consistent visual-language experience across an entire feature film.

VisualDub subsequently achieved another global milestone with Krishnavataram, produced by Creativeland Studios and released in May 2026. The technology was used to create complete lip-synced versions of the film in Tamil, Telugu and English, from the original Hindi production.

This makes Krishnavataram, according to VisualDub, the first feature film to be completely lip-synced into three languages using a single lip-sync model. The English-language version is scheduled for release in the United States next month.

Adoption across India's leading film studios

Over the past 15 months, VisualDub has been adopted by a growing number of leading Indian studios and production houses, including Dharma Productions, Jio Studios, Excel Entertainment, Friday Filmworks, EMMAY Entertainment, Roy Kapur Films, Aamir Khan Films, Red Giant Productions, Maddock Films, Mumbai Film Company and Sun Pictures, among others.

The adoption reflects a growing demand within the entertainment industry for technology that can enable films to travel across linguistic and geographic boundaries without compromising the cinematic experience.

VisualDub has been specifically engineered to support high-resolution and large-format theatrical content, with an emphasis on output quality, consistency and natural-looking lip movement.

Significantly, the technology has already been used on projects that have received theatrical releases and subsequently become available on major streaming platforms including Netflix, Prime Video and JioStar.

This provides a real-world demonstration of the technology's ability to meet the quality requirements of both theatrical exhibition and major global streaming platforms.

Enabling a multilingual future for entertainment

India's multilingual entertainment ecosystem provides a significant opportunity for AI-driven localisation. Traditionally, taking a film into multiple languages has involved dubbing, voice recording and other localisation processes, while maintaining visual alignment between newly recorded dialogue and the original performances can present additional challenges.

AI-powered lip synchronisation has the potential to change this model by allowing content owners to create multiple native-language versions from a single production.
