FanCode has secured exclusive TV and digital rights for the upcoming women’s tri-nation ODI series featuring India, Sri Lanka and South Africa. All the matches will be played at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. The series will start on April 27th, with India taking on Sri Lanka in the first game. The final will be played on May 11th. Each team will face-off twice, and the top two teams will then play in the final.
This marks the return of the Indian team to the field, on the back of a six game winning streak and will see top stars like captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh feature. Kashvee Gautam has also earned her maiden call-up to the team after some impressive performances.
India will be looking to continue its impressive run of form, having lost only once in Sri Lanka. They have never lost a series, but will face a stern challenge from Women’s ODI World Cup semi-finalists South Africa and a strong Sri Lankan team, who recently defeated India in the Asia Cup.
Laura Woolvardt will lead the South African squad which has a mix of experienced and uncapped players, with the likes of Chloé Tryon, Tazmine Brits, Ayabonga Khaka, Suné Luus, and Nonkululeko Mlaba.
For the Asia Cup Champions Sri Lanka, this tournament is an ideal setting for preparation ahead of the upcoming World Cup. The series will give a glimpse into all the team’s preparations for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in India in September-October.
Talking about it, SLC CEO Ashley De Silva said, “We welcome FanCode as the official broadcaster of the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation Series for fans.
