New genre based plans replace the earlier single bundle system while YouTube Premium continues with multiple pricing options in India

YouTube TV has rolled out a major update to its subscription structure, introducing new genre specific plans aimed at giving viewers greater flexibility over what they watch and how much they pay for streaming services.

The move replaces the earlier single bundle system that required subscribers to pay for a large collection of channels regardless of their viewing preferences. For several years, the platform offered only one base plan priced at $82.99 per month, which included access to a wide range of live television channels and on demand content across sports, entertainment and other genres. However, the approach often meant that users were paying for channels they did not regularly watch.

With the new rollout, YouTube TV is shifting towards interest based packages that allow subscribers to choose plans aligned with specific content categories. One of the key offerings is the sports plan, priced at $64.99 per month with an introductory price of $54.99 for new users. The package provides access to a wide catalogue of live sports programming and includes major sports broadcasters.

Another option is the entertainment plan, which features networks focused on movies, lifestyle and general entertainment programming. This plan is priced at $54.99 per month, with a promotional price of $44.99 for new subscribers.

In India, YouTube Premium is currently available through several subscription tiers. YouTube Premium Lite is priced at ₹89 per month and offers ad free viewing with limited background playback and downloads. The individual Premium plan is priced at ₹149 per month and includes ad free viewing, YouTube Music and download features. The family plan costs ₹299 per month for up to five additional members, while the student plan is priced at ₹89 per month. Prepaid individual options are available at ₹159 per month or ₹459 per quarter.
