YouTube is all set to launch originals for the Indian audience. The video platform will release its first original show in India, ARRived, in the coming weeks, according to media reports. YouTube has reportedly teamed up with music maestro AR Rahman for the show.

The show will release under an ad-supported model. Players like Netflix and Amazon Prime have been offering original content to viewers but they operate on a subscription model.  Under Originals, Youtube will reportedly have content from successful creators/ partners.

Media reports quoted YouTube India Head of Entertainment Satya Raghavan as saying that affordable data costs are driving video consumption in India and YouTube has gained tremendously from this trend, reaching 245 million unique users per month.

The move, according to the Google-owned company, will also help boost its business from online video ad-spends.
With YouTube’s growing reach, brands will have an incredible opportunity to engage with the audience, Raghavan reportedly said.
