Santosh Sivan appreciates jury diversity at E4M Play Streaming Media Awards 2025

Cinematographer and filmmaker Santosh Sivan, celebrated globally for his contributions to Indian and international cinema, shared his thoughts on being part of the E4M Play Streaming Media Awards 2025 jury. Sivan, who has been part of esteemed juries like the Pusan International Film Festival, expressed his admiration for the systematic and inclusive process that went into selecting winners this year.

“It was amazing because I met a lot of interesting people, including Raveena Tandon, Rajeev Masand, and Tanvish. All the jury members were very passionate and really understood the films and categories they had to select from,” Sivan remarked. He appreciated the diversity of perspectives among the jury, which led to engaging and insightful discussions.

“There were a lot of people for and against, so there was a very healthy decision-making process. It was very well done, very systematic, and nicely executed,” Sivan added, highlighting the balanced and thoughtful approach that defined the judging process.

Sivan also reflected on a recent international honor that left a lasting impression. “I was quite taken aback because I was the first Asian to receive it. Normally, this award goes to Europeans and Americans,” he shared. What made the recognition even more special was the personalized gesture—the award included a set of lenses engraved with his name. “It is a very interesting honor. So, I was very excited to receive that,” he said with evident pride.

Comparing his E4M Play experience with his previous jury stints, Sivan noted the uniqueness of the format. “I have been on a lot of juries, especially the Pusan jury, and I would say this was very interesting. The way the discussions unfolded and the splitting of the jury to arrive at a consensus was quite engaging,” he explained.

Sivan expressed his anticipation for the final results, acknowledging the passion and expertise that each jury member brought to the table. “I am very happy to be part of the jury, and I really look forward to the final results,” he concluded.
