With a monthly cost of Rs 399, OpenAI's most economical subscription option, ChatGPT Go, has been launched in India. The strategy, which was introduced on August 19, is designed for India's quickly growing user base and includes smooth UPI connectivity to make payments easier.
With millions of students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and artists depending on the AI chatbot for learning, work, and problem-solving, India has swiftly grown to become ChatGPT's second-largest market worldwide. ChatGPT Go, an entry-level tier that provides many of the platform's premium features at a fraction of the price of its more expensive plans, was launched in response to this growing demand.
ChatGPT Go subscribers have access to GPT-5, OpenAI's most sophisticated model, as well as improved Indic language compatibility. The plan gives double the memory length for more customized responses, 10 times more daily picture production, ten times more file or image uploads, and ten times greater message limits than the free version. These enhancements aim to increase the usefulness and impact of AI in daily life without requiring Plus or Pro memberships.
Additionally, OpenAI made it easier for Indian users to sign up by enabling UPI payments for the first time across all subscription tiers—Go, Plus, and Pro.
The cheapest subscription option is ChatGPT Go, which costs ₹399 per month. It is priced below ChatGPT Plus, which costs ₹1,999, and ChatGPT Pro, which costs ₹19,900. The proposal, which is currently accessible on chat.openai.com and the ChatGPT mobile app, represents a calculated move by OpenAI to expand its presence in one of its busiest markets.
