Google hired Aditya Paliwal, a 22-year-old student of Integrated MTech at International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, with an impressive salary package of Rs 1.2 crore per annum.
Paliwal, who finished his MTech this year, will work with Google’s Artificial Intelligence Residency Programme for one year and will have the option of converting it into a full-time placement. The Google AI Residency Program is a research training role designed to jumpstart or advance careers in machine learning research. He will be joining Google on July 16.
Paliwal finished his school in Mumbai and in 2013 joined IIIT-B for a five-year integrated MTech dual-degree programme. According to media reports, he received an offer from Google in March earlier this year. He was selected through a test in artificial intelligence research. A total of 6,000 students took the test, out of which, only 50 aspirants were selected. Paliwal and his team were also one of the finalists of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) in 2017 and 2018, one of the most prestigious language coding competitions in the world.
Google’s program was created in 2015 with the goal of training and supporting the next generation of deep learning researchers. Residents in the program work with distinguished scientists and engineers from an option of research teams, choosing placements within the Google Brain team, Perception, Natural Language Understanding or Google AI New York. In addition, they will also have the opportunity to collaborate and partner closely with various research groups across Google and Alphabet, including Google Accelerated Sciences, X, and Google Cloud AI.
