The 10th edition of Google for India, the tech conglomerate's flagship event for the country, celebrated 20 years of Google in India.
The event announced the AI Opportunity Agenda for India white paper, and showcased its inspiration for a Gemini era, powered by Google's AI assistant.
Over 40% of Gemini's Indian users employ voice input in regional languages according to Google. After introducing the English model earlier this year, Gemini Live, Gemini's voice-powered iteration, is now available in Hindi from Thursday, with 8 more Indian languages to follow.
In the coming weeks, AI-powered overviews on Google Search will come in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi.
Google Maps will also be rolling out AI-powered summaries of reviews of brand showrooms, restaurants, retailers and other businesses. Results will be displayed image-first so that merchants can showcase their products and services.
Merchants and brands will also be able to leverage AI to transform still images into engaging videos to be displayed on Search. AI will also empower business chats so consumers can connect directly with companies via Search, with India being among the first markets this feature is rolling out in.
