Nitin Bhatia, Managing Director - Executive Alerts at Meltwater,opens up about his love for fitness, cricket, travel and sports, and how he uses the weekends to add these to his busy schedule
How does a man who educates the market about artificial intelligence, data science and social media bring in his spirited weekends in spite of a gruelling week gone by? Nitin Bhatia, Managing Director - Executive Alerts at Meltwater gets it right, one weekend at a time.
The man who is known in the media circuit as an expert on Digital Media Monitoring and Marketing moonlights as a college professor, a self-proclaimed budding chef and a sports enthusiast on the weekends. He believes that staying productive even on the weekends ensures that he is on the top of his game. “If I start my day late and don’t do anything through it, I end up being very cranky throughout my weekend,” he confesses.
Making weekends fit-spirational and fun
Bhatia is quite a sports enthusiast and loves indulging in sports onthe weekends. “I love to play racket shorts, table tennis, badminton and cricket,” he admits. The sales maestro who recently shifted to Bengaluru reveals that his biggest achievement right now is creating a cricket team of his own in a city where he didn’t know anybody.
The teaching therapy
He also reveals that teaching at Jamia MCRC has been an integral aspect of his weekends. “The subject I teach at the university is social media for developing communications,” he says as he admits that it was particularly designed by him. The teaching part again was integrated into his weekend schedule to ensure his productivity remains high.
Whipping up a storm
It’s no secret that Bhatia loves to cook. His social media food posts say it all. “I love to cook and so you’ll see a lot of photographs when it comes to cooking. I use a lot of hashtags like #newchefintown #chefathome on Instagram,” he laughs.He discloses that cooking is one of his biggest stress-busters; he tries to cook every weekend. He reminisces about cooking with a friend when in Delhi. “Once, we woke up 6am and went to look for a meat shop, which was located quite far from our home. We also rented huge penthouse-sized utensils to prepare Mutton Rogan Josh, which took a few hours to cook,” he recalls.
He says that prioritising family is an important aspect of his weekends. “The weekend also depends on your companion and giving her time,” he says as he opens up on eating out at least once every weekend to bond with his loved ones.
The ‘chill’ in the chillout
Bhatia says that he takes his weekends seriously and ensures that he feeds off his travel and foodie impulse too. “I do my business travels in such a way that I spend time working on a weekday and travelling on a weekend,” he reveals. He recalls his recent weekend chilloutwhen he went out to have a blast with his colleagues.

“I don’t think that I have taken stress to that level where I think about what to do,” says the man who starts his day by 7 am in the morning and tends to skip breakfast often due to his eventful schedule. “The trick lies in enjoying your job and you’ll never feel like you have worked,” he says.
