Laxman Narasimhan named Reckitt Benckiser’s Chief Executive Officer

Prior to this, Narasimhan was Global Chief Commercial Officer at PepsiCo

Laxman Narasimhan has been appointed as Reckitt Benckiser Group’s Chief Executive Officer, as per media reports. 

Prior to this, Narasimhan was PepsiCo’s Global Chief Commercial Officer. He is the first external candidate to be appointed as CEO at Reckitt. 

He comes in place of Rakesh Kapoor who has led Reckitt for more than eight years and would be retiring this year.

As per media reports, Narasimhan will be appointed to the board as Executive Director, effective July 16, and will become Group CEO with effect from September 1. 

Narasimhan will be responsible for leading the company’s Health Business Unit. “Laxman’s initial priorities will be to focus on delivering outperformance, especially in the health business unit,” Reckitt board Chairman Chris Sinclair was reported as saying.

Before PepsiCo, Narasimhan was Director at McKinsey & Co. 

Narasimhan has a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Pune. He got an MBA from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and is a Palmer Scholar and JN Tata Scholar.

Meanwhile, PepsiCo has named Ram Krishnan as Chief Commercial Officer.
