Ashu Phakey, COO HT English Print business, steps down

After a stint of 6 years at HT Media, Phakey will now join an FMCG major, as per sources

Ashu Phakey, COO HT English Print business, has stepped down after a stint of 6 years with the organisation. Phakey has decided to move on to pursue a career in FMCG. 

As per sources, he is joining a blue chip FMCG major in a leadership role to head one of their business verticals.
Phakey joined HT Media as part of the leadership team and went on to head key businesses in the company. After joining as Circulation Head for the group, he went on to become the Business Head of their largest business - HT Delhi. In 2017, he was promoted as COO of HT English.

“I have cherished my stint at HT Media. My contribution to the company is a direct outcome of the core values that define HT Media - Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and People centricity. Having spent 10 years in media, I am moving back to FMCG. FMCG has undergone a transformation in the last 10 years with new emerging channels and consumer spaces. I am looking forward to building profitable businesses, working closely with consumers and channel partners and leveraging my retail and media experience,” Phakey told exchange4media.

He has a carrier spanning over two decades in marketing and sales across sales like FMCG, agri-based businesses, organised retail and media. In April 2013, Phakey joined HT from Dainik Bhaskar where he was the COO.

Before working with media organisations, Phakey worked with companies like Subhiksha and Agro Tech Food.

Congratulating Phakey on his new innings, Praveen Someshwar, CEO and MD, at HT Media said: “Ashu’s innings with HT was an epitome of passion and operational brilliance. He was not only a quick learner but a versatile leader. I wish him terrific luck in the new role that he’d be pursuing.”
