The Better India and Brooke Bond Red Label have joined hands to celebrate true stories of inclusivity with the Breaking Barrier series. As a brand, Brooke Bond Red Label truly believes in the idea of spreading “Apnapan” or “Togetherness”. The core objective was to create content that one, communicates the brand’s ethos, two, leaves the brand’s legacy behind by inspiring the audience.
Over the past five months, they shared stories of people having each other’s back no matter what. Stories of people willing to face all societal challenges to support what they believe is right. Heartwarming stories from across the country of people who are setting wonderful examples with the great work they are doing.
One such story is about Mallah village in Jagraon Tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab. The settlement has a population of 10,000, and only three Muslim families. And together they have set an amazing example of fraternity and communal harmony.
After the village’s only mosque was demolished during Partition, the residents got together and rebuilt the structure, so devout from the Muslim families would no longer have to travel more than 20 km every day to offer namaaz.
Considering the scale of diversity in India, many stereotypes still come in the way of us being able to truly accept all our fellow Indians, without discriminating on the basis of religion, caste, gender and more. And even though the evolution India is currently going through has allowed us to challenge age-old stereotypes, paving the way for many new and unique ideas to take shape, many such stories still remain untold.
It is this spirit of togetherness that Brooke Bond Red Label and The Better India are highlighting in their series - Breaking Barriers. The Breaking Barrier series won a Bronze metal at the recently held ABBY Awards during the Goafest under best non-fiction program, series or film category.
Shiva Krishnamurthy, Category Head - Beverages, Hindustan Unilever Limited, says, “Brooke Bond Red Label stands for inclusiveness. We believe that heartwarming stories, like that of the harmony in Mallah village, deserve to be told and heard by many. Under this series with The Better India, we’ll bring forward true stories from across the country that inspire togetherness, break social barriers and pave the way for a more inclusive society.”
Dhimant Parekh, Founder-CEO, The Better India, says, “India is witness to thousands of stories of fellow countrymen helping each other out. We are happy to have a partner like Brooke Bond Red Label with us on this journey to uncover many such stories that celebrate togetherness.”
