L'Oréal India has initiated a media pitch, multiple sources have confirmed to exchange4media. The mandate is estimated to be worth upwards of Rs 600 crore.
The business is up for review roughly three years after WPP’s Wavemaker retained it in a 2021 pitch. The agency has been managing the mandate for nearly two decades now.
As per recent financial filings, L'Oréal India’s advertising and promotional expenses rose 23.7% in FY2024, touching Rs 1,714.54 crore, up from Rs 1,385.74 crore in FY2023.
The cosmetic giant reported a marginal dip in net profit to Rs 487.46 crore for FY24. However, its revenue from operations rose by 12.6% to Rs 5,576.47 crore.
Total income, including other earnings, climbed 13.83% to Rs 5,684.60 crore.
In other developments, L'Oréal has announced major leadership changes aimed at accelerating its India growth strategy. Effective October 1, 2025, Aseem Kaushik will assume the role of Chairman, while Jacques Lebel has been named Country Manager.
L'Oréal’s India portfolio covers a wide range of segments from mass-market brands such as L’Oréal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline New York, and NYX, to salon-exclusive labels that include the likes of Matrix, Kerastase, and others. It also caters to the premium and pharmacy segments with brands including Kiehl’s, Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, and CeraVe.
Earlier this year, it was reported that L'Oréal plans to more than double its business in India over the next couple of years while also expanding its factories.
L'Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus said India is a very strategic market for the company, and one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty markets.
He added that the company intended to more than double its business in the country, expand its factories which currently manufacture 95% of what is sold in India exported to the rest of the region.
L'Oréal India is a subsidiary of the French multinational L'Oréal SA, which holds a 99.99% stake in the company. It has been operating in the Indian market since 1994.
