Meta has rolled out a fresh set of upgrades to its video-editing app Edits, introducing advanced creative controls along with a new Stranger Things–inspired font. The update arrives just as interest around the Netflix show spikes, giving creators a timely new stylistic option.
The new features aim to strengthen Edits as a mobile-first tool capable of producing polished, platform-ready videos without requiring professional software. The most significant additions include improved masking, enhanced audio controls, and the highly shareable Stranger Things typeface.
Improved Masking for Cinematic Effects
One of the biggest upgrades is the expansion of masking tools. Users can now animate mask shapes and properties, enabling dynamic transitions, layered visual effects, spotlight reveals, and smoother blends between clips. These upgrades make it easier to produce edit-heavy, stylised videos commonly seen across Instagram Reels and Facebook.
The move brings Edits closer to the capabilities of advanced desktop editors, while keeping the interface accessible for mobile creators.
Smarter Audio Through Automatic Ducking
Meta has also introduced automatic volume ducking, which detects speech in a clip and lowers background music accordingly. This ensures voice-overs and dialogues sound clearer, reducing the need for manual adjustments. For creators who frequently use music overlays, this tool can significantly speed up the editing process.
Stranger Things Font Arrives in Edits
In a pop-culture-friendly addition, Edits now features a Stranger Things-themed font, mirroring the show’s signature retro-horror style. The font arrives in sync with the buzz surrounding Stranger Things Season 5 and gives users an easy way to create themed edits, countdown posts, or fan-driven content.
The stylised typeface is already gaining traction across social platforms, especially among creators tapping into the nostalgia and hype around the franchise.
Strengthening Meta’s Creator Ecosystem
With these additions, Meta is signalling a stronger push toward keeping creators within its ecosystem for both content creation and publishing. By improving Edits’ capabilities, the company reduces reliance on external editing apps and offers users a more unified workflow.
The combination of functional upgrades and culturally relevant features suggests Meta is positioning Edits as a go-to editing tool for short-form video creators who value speed, flexibility, and trend-ready features.
