Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has undertaken a sweeping overhaul of its sales organisation, aligning leadership roles and revenue strategy with accelerating growth across digital and television, as the broadcaster looks to sharpen its monetisation playbook in a rapidly evolving media landscape. The strategic rationale behind the new sales design is aimed towards making the organization ‘Future Ready’.

The restructuring, led by Chief Operating Officer – Advertisement Revenue Sandeep Mehrotra, comes at a time when the company is witnessing “tremendous growth” and is seeking to align team competencies with emerging opportunities, according to a senior executive aware of the development.

“The new sales design is to match the growth of the company, making it future ready. We are seeing a tremendous growth and this is to match the competencies of the team members and to leverage it,” a senior executive told e4m, adding that the move will “help digital growth and elevate this golden period as the company grows on all fronts—digital and TV.”

The rejig is anchored in ZEEL’s push to build an integrated, data-driven monetisation engine amid structural shifts in the media and entertainment sector. The company highlighted that increasing audience fragmentation, the rapid rise of digital platforms, and the mainstreaming of connected TV are reshaping consumption patterns and advertising models.

Against this backdrop, the broadcaster is recalibrating its sales architecture to deliver cross-platform solutions, in line with its omni-channel strategy. The new structure aims to enable faster decision-making, unlock newer revenue pools, and deepen client partnerships through integrated offerings spanning linear TV and digital.

Internally, the company said the redesign strengthens leadership bandwidth by granting greater ownership to senior executives, while positioning teams to respond more nimbly to market dynamics.

As part of the overhaul, ZEEL has elevated multiple long-serving executives into Chief Sales Officer (CSO) roles across key markets and content clusters.

Sanjoy Chatterjee will lead the East market, while Gunjarav Nayak will oversee the West market along with high-margin verticals such as HMG, Brand Works, intellectual properties, and digital sales. Rajnish Gupta will head the southern markets of Bengaluru and Chennai, alongside Kannada and Tamil clusters.

Divjyot Dhanda will take charge of Hyderabad and Kochi markets and oversee Zee TV, Zee Keralam and the Telugu cluster, while Roshan Vasu Kotian will supervise key channel portfolios including Zee Marathi, &TV, Zee Punjabi, Zee Anmol, Big Magic and Zee Biskope.

In parallel, ZEEL has strengthened its second line of leadership by appointing multiple National Sales Heads across retail, regional clusters, digital, and brand solutions. Notably, Ankur Kapila has been brought in to lead digital sales, signalling sharper focus on the fast-growing segment.

The restructuring underscores ZEEL’s intent to capture a larger share of advertising spends migrating to digital and connected TV ecosystems. Dedicated strategy and operations roles have also been carved out for both linear and digital businesses, with Nitin Shetty, Rajkiran Shrivastav, and Priya Nambiar taking on key responsibilities.

The company indicated that the new design will prioritise high-growth verticals and strengthen execution capabilities, while continuing to invest in internal talent development and leadership grooming.

“The new sales approach celebrates leaders who have grown with the company, matching roles to their potential and enabling broader growth pathways,” ZEEL said in an internal communication.

The new structure comes into effect immediately, with Mehrotra continuing to report to Chief Executive Officer Punit Goenka and lead the company’s advertising revenue strategy.

Meanwhile, senior executive Laxmi Shetty will support the transition, with her revised role expected to be announced shortly.

The move marks a significant step in ZEEL’s broader strategy to future-proof its revenue engine, as it seeks to capitalise on the convergence of television and digital platforms while navigating an increasingly competitive and fragmented media environment.
