Walmart Inc. has announced that Shishir Mehrotra, Chief Executive Officer of Superhuman (formerly Grammarly), has joined its Board of Directors. As part of his role, Mehrotra will be a member of the Board’s Compensation and Management Development Committee, as well as the Technology and eCommerce Committee.

Commenting on the appointment, Greg Penner, Chairman of Walmart’s Board, said the company continues to focus on serving customers through a people-first and technology-driven approach. He added that Shishir’s experience as a platform builder, with a strong record of scaling products used by millions, brings valuable perspective to Walmart’s board.

Randall Stephenson, Lead Independent Director of Walmart’s Board, noted that Mehrotra offers a unique blend of deep technical expertise and strong product leadership. He highlighted Mehrotra’s success in building platforms that boost creativity and productivity at a global level and said the board is pleased to welcome him.

Sharing his thoughts, Mehrotra said he has long respected Walmart’s ability to innovate while staying grounded in its core values. He added that joining the Board at a time when the company is preparing for an agentic AI future is a special opportunity, and he looks forward to working with the team during what he described as the most significant technology shift of his career.

Mehrotra brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology space, having built and scaled category-leading platforms. Before joining Superhuman, he was the CEO and co-founder of Coda, a productivity and AI platform that grew to serve millions of users and tens of thousands of teams worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Mehrotra served as Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer at YouTube, where he played a key role in growing the platform into the world’s largest video destination and one of Google’s biggest and fastest-growing businesses, while also empowering a new generation of creators.
