Samir Gupta has stepped down from his role as Managing Director of Continental Tyres India after more than 13 years with the company. He has been with the the automotive and tyre industry for nearly 34 years.

In a post shared on LinkedIn, Gupta said he has decided to take a conscious career pause to reflect and plan the next phase of his professional journey.

“After an enriching 34 years of professional journey, including the last 13+ years at Continental Tyres, I have decided to step down from my role as Managing Director, India and take a pause,” Gupta wrote, adding that the break will allow him to recharge and align his future path with purpose, passion, and new challenges.

Gupta described the move as a strategic pause rather than a retirement, noting that stepping into the unknown often enables growth. Reflecting on lessons from his early career in sales, he said that the fear of losing what one already has can sometimes become the biggest barrier to progress.

During his tenure, Gupta held several leadership roles across geographies within Continental AG and played a key role in driving business transformation initiatives. His work focused on strengthening governance frameworks, risk management, and compliance, while leading cross-cultural teams and operational responsibilities that contributed to the company’s growth in India.

The company has not yet announced a successor or provided details on the transition timeline.

Gupta indicated that the move represents “just a pause,” suggesting he may take up a new role or strategic engagement in the mobility or automotive ecosystem in the future.
