Senior journalist and television anchor Rubika Liyaquat has joined News18 in a new role, sources have confirmed to exchange4media.

The development marks her return to the network after a brief stint with Times Now Navbharat.

Liyaquat had joined Times Now Navbharat in June 2026 as Senior Executive Editor – TNNB and Vice President – Special Projects. Based at the network’s Noida office, she took on editorial responsibilities that included the prime-time programme News Ki Pathshala. Her departure was reported in September, a little over three months after she joined Times Network.

Her appointment at Times Now Navbharat had combined an on-air role with a broader editorial mandate. Alongside leading News Ki Pathshala, she was assigned responsibilities involving strategic editorial initiatives and special content projects. The announced remit also included contributing to the channel’s editorial direction, strengthening engagement with Hindi-speaking audiences and developing news formats for television and digital platforms.

Before joining Times Network, Liyaquat was associated with News18 India as Consulting Editor and Prime-Time Anchor. She exited the organisation in May 2026 and moved to Times Now Navbharat the following month. Her latest appointment brings her back to News18 later in the same year, with the particulars of the new role still awaited.

Liyaquat’s earlier move to News18 India was reported in January 2024, following her departure from Bharat24 in December 2023. She had served as Vice President at Bharat24, adding a leadership assignment to her experience in television anchoring and editorial work.

She joined Bharat24 in 2023 after spending more than five years with ABP News. At Bharat24, her assignment combined the positions of Vice President and prime-time anchor, continuing a career that had taken her through several Hindi television newsrooms.

With close to two decades of experience, Liyaquat’s professional background spans broadcast journalism, political reporting, election coverage and debate-led programming. Her previous associations include ABP News, Zee News, News24, Live India, Bharat24 and News18 India. Across these assignments, she has handled both on-screen anchoring and editorial responsibilities.

Further details of her new role are awaited.
