On May 22, when e4m broke the news that Partha Sinha was stepping down from the helm of the Times Group, the man himself barely blinked. “Not really newsworthy,” he shrugged.

However, at Goafest, the e4m news became the most circulated whisper on the lawns. There were more conjectures than cocktails. But Sinha, in classic form, offered no clarifications—only that half-smile that has, over the years, come to mean “You’ll know when I do something worth knowing.”

On Sunday, Sinha updated his LinkedIn profile. The update reads: Senior Advisor, consumer practice at McKinsey & Company.

Sinha will be working with the global firm’s consumer business clients bringing decades of insight from his time leading brand, revenue, and content strategies at the Times Group, BBH, Ogilvy, and Citibank.

Also tucked into the update is a more cryptic mention: ABLTY Advisory LLP—his own new outfit. When contacted, Sinha confirmed the developments but remained predictably coy. “Yes, the McKinsey role is accurate,” he said. “But no, still not newsworthy.”

And about ABLTY?

“I’d rather not say much now,” he replied. “Announcing intent for a new outfit is a bit like forecasting—it rarely lives up to the announcement later.”
