  • OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh, former President of Uber India and South Asia, as its Managing Director for India, effective September.

OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, as its Managing Director for India.

Singh will join OpenAI in September and report to Kiran Mani, Managing Director for Asia Pacific. He will lead the company's consumer and enterprise business, partnerships, regulatory engagement and overall operations.

OpenAI said Singh's mandate will include expanding strategic partnerships, supporting the country's AI ecosystem and accelerating the adoption of AI across businesses, institutions and the public sector.

Uber earlier confirmed that he would be leaving the company to pursue another leadership opportunity.

"We thank Prabhjeet for his leadership and lasting contributions in his decade-long journey with Uber. We remain deeply committed to our next phase of growth in India," an Uber spokesperson said in a statement.

Singh joined Uber in 2015 as General Manager and Head of Strategy and was elevated as President of India and South Asia in 2020. Most recently, he led Uber's mobility business across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
