Tata Trusts has approved a third five-year executive term for N Chandrasekaran as Chairman of Tata Sons, as per media reports.
This is in departure to the Tata Group's retirement policy as Chandrasekharan will be 65 in February 2027.
A report quoted sources as saying that the decision was made for the "sake of continuity in executive leadership", and to advance the company's projects involving semiconductors, EV batteries, and Air India.
As per reports, the decision was taken after a meeting on September 11 where the proposal was made by Noel Tata and Venu Srinivasan.
Chandrasekharan first joined the Board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was appointed as Chairman in January 2017.
Prior to that, he was with Tata Consultancy Services - 8 years as CEO and Managing Director.
