Havas Life Appoints João Camacho as Chief Creative Officer for India & Middle East

Havas Life has appointed Joao Camacho as Chief Creative Officer for India & the Middle East. He will be based in Mumbai and will report to Eric Weisberg, Global Chief Creative Officer, Havas Health, and Dorelle Kulkarni, Managing Director, Havas Life Mumbai.

In this role, Joao will lead creative work across India and the Middle East. He brings more than 20 years of international experience in healthcare communications, having worked in regions including Africa, Europe, the UK, the US, and the Middle East. Over the years, he has become known for turning complex medical and scientific information into meaningful and engaging healthcare campaigns.

Before joining Havas Life, Joao was with Publicis in Dubai, where he worked closely with pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. He helped launch new treatments, build disease awareness initiatives, and create patient-focused communication programs that delivered strong results. His work has earned recognition at global award platforms such as FIAP, CCP, and the New York Festivals. He has also served as a jury member at leading industry events including Cannes Lions Health, LIA Awards, CLIO Health, and The One Show.

Eric Weisberg said Joao’s global exposure and understanding of different cultures make him a strong addition to the leadership team. He added that Joao’s belief in creativity as a driver of positive change will support the company’s continued growth in India and the Middle East.

Charles Houdoux, Global Chief Client Officer at Havas Health and CEO APAC-LATAM, said the appointment reflects the company’s ambition to strengthen creative leadership in the region while staying aligned with its global vision. He noted that Joao’s strategic mindset and cultural understanding are well suited to the fast-growing healthcare markets in Asia and the Middle East.

Dorelle Kulkarni welcomed Joao to the Mumbai team and highlighted his combination of global experience and sensitivity to local market needs. She said the healthcare industry is evolving quickly, and clients now expect deeper partnerships that go beyond communication. According to her, Joao’s creative thinking and empathetic approach will help deliver meaningful impact for patients, doctors, caregivers, and health brands.

Speaking about his new role, Joao said he is excited to join Havas Health and lead creative efforts in such dynamic and growing markets. He added that he looks forward to developing campaigns that inspire people, build strong connections, and create real value in healthcare communication.
