Flashed Yesterday: NEONS Awards 2018: Kinetic India tops the chart with 7 Gold and 3 Silver
The agency also took home the OOH Media Agency of the Year with its CEO Suresh Balakrishna honoured as the OOH Person of the Year
Exchange4media on Wednesday celebrated the eighth edition of NEONS Awards for outdoor advertising and digital signage.
Kinetic India was the big winner of the night, gaining 7 Gold and 3 Silver medals for a total tally of 10 medals. It won Gold for campaigns Google Maps: Live traffic on static billboards #lookbeforeyouleave, Vodafone Eco-pond: Good in Good Byes, Netflix: Bright: Peoples Premier Wherever, whenever, with whoever, and Star Plus: Ted Talk: The Air Ink Billboard - the first ever billboard painted with pollution. Backed by this strong performance, the agency also took home the OOH Media Agency of the Year award. Also, Suresh Balakrishna, CEO, South Asia and Middle East, Kinetic Advertising India Private Limited, was honoured as the OOH Person of the Year.
Talking about the OOH conference, Stuart Taylor, CEO, Kinetic Worldwide, said, “I am pretty much impressed by today’s conference and awards where you bring clients and agencies together. I think this is a brilliant way of getting in a new idea and coming together with industry to decide its purpose and initiatives in the coming year.”
Harjot Nagpal, Head West Zone, Kinetic India, expressed gratitude on their huge success, “We won awards for Netflix and Star Plus which was for TED Talks and trust me, it was very difficult to give an OOH lens for an idea which was a digital idea and also a print idea but we still brought it alive on OOH. Now the result is here, our hard work paid off and we are here with our two Gold trophies.”
Veteran marketer Sunder Hemrajani was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in the OOH industry.
Discussing his time spent in the industry and journey, Hemrajani said his experience on being a former MD of Times OOH to now Co-founder and CEO of InCon has been a great experience. “I had spent about 11-12 years in this industry and I confess that 11 years in such a difficult industry actually seems like a lifetime. I feel honoured. We had built a company from scratch and that is Times OOH. I would like to give the credits for this award to the shareholders who stood by this business despite of the initial setback after the meltdown in the year 2009 and they stood by the business through thick and thin. I would also like to thank my team, I must say I had a dedicated team, which imbibed the values which we had set for our business- integrity, respect and leadership. So I accept this award on behalf of my stakeholders and the capable team.”
Alok Jalan, MD, Laqshya Media, also expressed his views on how the awards night was conducted, “I think it appreciates the hard work put in by all the agencies, in-fact clients get encouraged with these kind of initiatives.”
Talking about Laqshya's contribution to the industry, Jalan added, “It’s just the beginning, a lot more is yet to come. We are working on new projects, some exciting initiatives that are soon to come.”
DDB Mudra Max was awarded the OOH Creative Agency of the Year. The agency won a total of 7 medals, including 3 Gold and 4 Silver. It won Gold for campaigns like Western Union - The Goodwill Machine, Karix’s The Art of Sound and Nerolac’s The World's First Shade Carousel Conveyor Belt. Both the OOH Advertiser of the Year and the OOH Campaign of the Year were conferred to Vodafone India for its Vodafone Eco-pond: Good in Good Byes.
OOH Conference and Awards were established in 2011 to reward excellence in outdoor media. The awards recognize exceptional work done in OOH advertising and digital signage between January 2017 and December 2017.
