Prasar Bharati to source feature films for its digital, linear platforms

The pubcaster proposes to source approx 50 feature films for the launch of its OTT platform

Prasar Bharati has invited applications from Rights Owner companies, Partnership Firms, Proprietary firms, Producers for sourcing of Feature Films on License Fee/Royalty for Prasar Bharati’s linear and digital platforms.

The government body shall source approximately 50 feature films as per the requirement of the the launch of OTT platform and weekly drop till end of financial year.

“The telecast/streaming schedule and platform will be decided after the completion of sourcing process based on the category, period or territory of rights acquired of the feature films for different platforms,” said Doordarshan’s notice dated September 24, 2024.

Prasar Bharati also lay down conditions for applicability of feature films that are offered. The feature film should:

Be ready-made or already produced
Not be older than 5 years and feature films which have not yet premiered or showcased on any other Digital Platform (In case of Exclusive Digital Rights) or Television Network (In case of Exclusive TV Rights).
Have U or U/A CBFC Certificate in Case of Satellite Rights (In case of Digital Rights Feature Films without CBFC Certificate can also apply but will only be cleared after detailed preview).

The feature film must also comply with the Programme Code of Prasar Bharati, or any other guidelines, orders, or codes as specified by the Government or any other regulatory body with respect to content streamed by Prasar Bharati.
