The proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance will remain on hold until August 17 after a US federal judge extended the temporary pause.
As per latest media reports, California and 11 other US states have challenged the proposed $110 billion merger, arguing that it would reduce competition and negatively impact consumers, movie theatres and cable operators.
The Writers Guild of America has also challenged the deal, arguing it would reduce opportunities for screenwriters.
The ruling extends an earlier order that had temporarily halted the merger through August 3. The company said further delays could put the deal at risk and cost it more than $1 billion.
