The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has extended the deadline for submission of feedback and comments on the proposed amendments to the Policy Guidelines for Television Rating Agencies in India.

In an official notice dated July 29, 2025, the ministry has said that the audience measurement technology at present does not sufficiently capture the complexity and diversity of India’s television viewership, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has said, as it proposed sweeping amendments to overhaul the country’s TRP (television rating points) system.

The new deadline for submission is September 1, 2025.

This decision comes in light of the ministry’s objective to ensure wider participation and more comprehensive stakeholder input on the proposed changes. The feedback is being sought on the notice originally circulated on July 2, 2025, which had set a 30-day deadline.

The policy guidelines under review govern how television audience measurement and ratings are conducted in India—an area crucial to the broadcast and advertising industries. Any changes are expected to have a direct impact on how viewership data is collected and reported.
