JioStar, the media and entertainment arm of Reliance Industries, has posted a record performance in the first quarter of FY26, reporting gross revenue of ₹11,222 crore and revenue from operations at ₹9,601 crore, which it attributed to a successful IPL 2025 season, which drove growth across both TV and digital platforms.

The total revenue in FY25 stood at Rs 11,032 crore.

The company’s EBITDA stood at ₹1,017 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 10.6%, calculated on operational revenue. Profit after tax surged to ₹581 crore in Q1 FY26, a significant rise from ₹229 crore in Q1 FY25.

The company reported total revenue of Rs 11,032 crore for FY25, covering the period from November 14, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This follows the formation of the merged Jiostar entity on November 14, 2024.

Other financial metrics for the quarter include depreciation of ₹316 crore, finance cost of ₹118 crore, and tax expenses of ₹2 crore.

JioStar achieved a massive subscriber base of 287 million on JioHotstar during the IPL and reached over 800 million people via TV in the same period, the company said.

JioHotstar crossed 1.04 billion Android downloads and averaged 460 million+ monthly active users (MAUs) during the quarter. The network reinforced its dominance with a 35.5% share in TV entertainment viewership.

In sports, IPL 2025 reached 1.19 billion viewers across TV and digital. JioHotstar recorded its biggest-ever IPL, reaching 652 million viewers, a 28% year-on-year growth.

The season achieved a 5.1 TVR and over 514 billion minutes of watch-time across TV.

The IPL 2025 Final emerged as the biggest T20 match ever on digital with a reach of 237 million and peak concurrency of 55.2 million, far exceeding the previous IPL record of 35.9 million, the company said.

On TV, the final reached 189 million viewers, marking the highest-ever viewership for an IPL match.

Beyond cricket, the JioStar network hosted several key sports events including the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final and secured exclusive digital streaming rights for India’s five-Test series against England.

On the digital entertainment front, JioHotstar posted its highest-ever monthly entertainment watch-time in June 2025.

“The latest season of Criminal Justice recorded the strongest opening for any OTT original in 2025, according to Ormax Media, while Kesari 2 emerged as the biggest movie of the year across all languages on the platform. International content also performed strongly—Captain America: Brave New World debuted as the second most-watched film of the quarter, while Mufasa: The Lion King became the most-watched international movie ever on JioHotstar,” it said.

In linear TV entertainment, Star Plus retained its leadership in the Hindi GEC space with six out of the top ten shows, the company said.

Star Utsav and Colors Rishtey were re-launched on DD Free Dish, with Star Utsav becoming the No. 1 channel since its re-entry. Regional GECs also showed consistent strength—Star Pravah, Star Jalsha, Star Maa, and Asianet continued as the No. 1 entertainment channels in their respective markets. JioStar maintained its undisputed leadership across niche genres including kids, youth, and English.
