India’s broadband subscribers rise to 974.87 mn in May 2025: TRAI
Among top broadband providers (Wired + Wireless), Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. retained its top spot with 494.47 million subscribers

India’s broadband subscriber base witnessed a significant surge in May 2025, reaching 974.87 million, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This marks a monthly growth of 3.37 percent, up from 943.09 million subscribers in April 2025.
The growth was primarily driven by a substantial rise in fixed wireless broadband users, which saw a 60.06% jump month-on-month—from 4.87 million in April to 7.79 million in May 2025. Fixed wired broadband subscribers grew by 6.46 percent to 44.09 million, while mobile broadband users increased marginally by 2.92 percent to 922.99 million.
Among top broadband providers (Wired + Wireless), Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. retained its top spot with 494.47 million subscribers, capturing 50.72 percent of the market. It was followed by Bharti Airtel Ltd at 302.15 million (30.99 percent); Vodafone Idea Ltd at 126.86 million (12.99 percent); Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) at 34.32 million (3.52 percent) and Atria Convergence Technologies Ltd at 2.32 million (0.24 percent).
Together, these top five providers accounted for 98.47 percent of the total broadband market in India as of May 31, 2025.
Reliance Jio also led the fixed wired broadband segment with 13.51 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel: 9.26 million; BSNL: 4.32 million; Atria Convergence: 2.32 million; and Kerala Vision: 1.34 million.
These five accounted for 69.74 percent of the wired broadband market.
In the wireless broadband category (which includes both fixed wireless and mobile broadband), Reliance Jio led with 480.96 million subscribers. Bharti Airtel followed with 292.89 million, while Vodafone Idea and BSNL had 126.67 million and 29.99 million users respectively. iBus Virtual Network Services rounded out the top five with 0.09 million subscribers. Combined, the top five held a near-total market share of 99.98 percent.
