According to a tweet shared by Prasar Bharati, DD National has surpassed its own viewership record after it maintained its number 1 spot for two consecutive weeks in a row. The channel has continued to stay at the top for week 13 and week 14.
In week 13, DD National registered a viewership of more than 1.5 billion. And in week 14, it posted more than 1.9 billion. The numbers bear testimony to DD National’s rising popularity after it brought back classic television shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat and Shaktiman.
The re-telecast of the iconic shows on DD Nation and DD Bharati during the lockdown has helped increase their viewership. Broadcast Audience Research Council data revealed that Ramayan garnered the highest-ever rating for a Hindi GEC show since 2015.
Emboldened by the renewed interest from the audience, Prasar Bharati has also launched DD Retro, which will air only the classics.
