DD Free Dish: Prasar Bharati extends deadline for 87th e-auction of MPEG-2 slots

Prasar Bharati has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the 87th e-auction of vacant MPEG-2 slots on the DD Free Dish platform. The slots, valid from May 28, 2025 to March 31, 2026, will now be auctioned via an online process tentatively scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2025. Broadcasters can apply until 3:00 p.m. on May 15, 2025.
The auction will be conducted in six rounds, each with a defined starting reserve price and eligibility criteria based on channel buckets. Round 1, with a reserve price of Rs 13.75 crore, is open to all categories—buckets A+, A, B, C, D, and R. Round 2, priced at Rs 10.96 crore, allows participation from buckets A, B, C, D, and R, but excludes A+. Round 3, with a reserve of Rs 9.32 crore, is open to buckets B, C, D, and R. Round 4, at Rs 6.83 crore, permits only buckets C, D, and R. Round 5, with a starting price of Rs 5.94 crore, is limited to channels in buckets D and R. Finally, Round 6, priced at Rs 2.53 crore, is exclusive to channels in bucket R.
All other terms and conditions mentioned in the earlier notification dated April 29, 2025 remain unchanged.
