CNN is planning to come up with digital subscription services, CEO Mark Thompson said in an interview to the Financial Times.

CNN is also working out releasing at least one streaming product this year, Thompson told the publication.

The move has been taken in the wake of the pressures on the TV business.

As per Thompson, CNN will be able to generate over $1bn in annual revenue by 2030 on back of the digital subscriptions.

As per reports, CNN’s parent company Warner Bros Discovery has allocated over $70mn for the channel to make a turnaround.

“We’re beginning to build out a suite of digital products, principally with a subscription thesis,” he was quoted as saying in the FT interview.

“I don’t think this stuff is easy. Our entire industry is going through a revolution. The landscape is continuing to go through the stresses and strains of an enormous disruption of audiences and of the media generally,” he further said.
