BCCI appoints Korn Ferry agency to recruit new Marketing & Communication head

With the Indian Premier League 2018 around the corner, the new appointment is critical given the big sponsorship spends expected for the upcoming IPL season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed international headhunting agency-Korn Ferry to recruit new Marketing & Communication head ahead of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League 2018.
The BCCI is India’s richest sporting body and does not depend on the Government for financial support, with revenue from the sale of tickets, media rights and sponsorships. This year it sold IPL media rights to Star India at a staggering Rs 16, 347.5 crore.
The new marketing and communication lead will help in developing marketing and brand strategy, both for the medium and long term, for the corporate brand as well as any future launches that the company does. He/she will also work closely with the advertising agency to develop the thematic and tactical advertising campaigns and will have to coordinate between diverse parts of the business from briefing the agency to the execution of a marketing plan.
Confirming the development with exchange4media, a top BCCI source said that “we are looking to fill the position at the earliest.” A spokesperson from Korn Ferry on condition of anonymity confirmed that BCCI has appointed the firm to close the position at the earliest. 
With the Indian Premier League 2018 around the corner, the new appointment is critical given the big sponsorship spends expected for the upcoming IPL season. It needs to be mentioned that the total ad revenue of IPL 2017 stood at Rs 1300 crore which is expected to go significantly higher with the inclusion of more sponsors this season. This year’s IPL season will commence from 4th April 2018 and BCCI will be holding the auction of IPL 2018, which includes 578 players including 360 Indians in Bengaluru on Jan 27-28.
