BARC Week 16: 'The Kapil Sharma Show' gains top position in urban market

Star Sports 1 Hindi and Dangal continue to be top channels for the fourth consecutive week

Star Sports 1 Hindi continues to stay in the first position in the overall market with 1046642 impressions, as per data for Week 16 released by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). 

Although the channel is on top, the impressions have dwindled slightly. On Week 15, the broadcaster registered 1111416 impressions. 

Dangal is on the second position yet again with 993817 impressions. It too has seen a downward trend since last week. On Week 15, Dangal was on the second spot with 1084693 impressions. Interestingly, despite being on the third position again this week, Sun TV has seen an upward trend. From 859261 impressions on Week 15, the channel has registered 934025 impressions on Week 16.

In the top 5 programme category in Week 16, Dangal’s Ramayan moved up to the first position from the second slot with 10597 impressions. The second position was taken up by Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya with 10124 impressions. The latter was on the third spot on Week 15. Dangal’s Mahima Shanidev Ki slipped down from the number 1 slot to number 3 with 9830 impressions. Kundali Bhagya and Colors’ Naagin continued to be on the fourth and fifth positions with 9103 and 8404 impressions respectively.

Urban Market
Star Plus continues to be the leader in the urban market with 439028 impressions which is better than Week 15’s 436173 impressions. Sony Entertainment Television took the second spot with 358961 impressions. Colors and Zee TV maintained their third and fourth positions with 332298 and 323610 impressions respectively.


In the programme category, there has been a major shuffle. The Kapil Sharma Show which entered the list on Week 15 in the fourth position, has managed to take the top spot on Week 16. It has registered 5940 impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has slipped to the second spot with 5757 impressions; Sony Entertainment Television’s Super Dancer Chapter 3 with 5616 impressions is the new entrant to the list on number 3. Kulfi Kumar Bajewala and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (new entry) are on the fourth and fifth positions with 5459 and 5424 impressions. Both Naagin 3 and Kundali Bhagya are out of the list on Week 16.

Rural Market
As was seen in the last couple of weeks, in the top 10 channels category, Dangal has topped with 752992 impressions. Big Magic is on the second spot with 566288 impressions, followed by Zee TV on the third spot with 216281 impressions. 


In the programme category, Dangal's, 'Ramayan’, 'Mahima Shani Dev Ki' and ‘Sai Baba' took the top three spots in the Top 5 programme category in the rural section with 8506, 7986 and 4875 impressions respectively. Big Magic’s Raavi Aur Magic Mobile takes the fourth spot with 4734 impressions followed by Big Magic’s ‘Paramavatar Shree Krishna’ in the fifth spot with 4655 impressions. Big Magic’s 'Maharakshak Aryan' is out of the list this time.
