Radio City completed 11 years in the business on July 3, 2012. To celebrate the 11th Anniversary, Radio City has announced its new offering – Freedom Radio. Freedom Radio is touted as India’s first dedicated web radio for Indie music only on PlanetRadiocity.com.
Speaking to exchange4media, Kartik Kalla, National Programming Head, Radio City, said, “Radio City is giving a chance to independent artists to be on a platform like Planetradiocity.com to showcase their music. The philosophy of Radio City is to come up with new innovative ideas, new activities to entertain the listeners, in keeping with our line: ‘Naye daur ki nayi dhun’.”

Meanwhile, Radio City celebrated its 11th anniversary with a special segment called ‘Freedom Hour’ which was aired between 10 am and 11 am, and also brought in five bands across five states to perform simultaneously for the first time on Indian radio to announce the launch of Freedom Radio.
The music content spans dub-step, electronica, folk, rock, and Sufi genres in languages as diverse as Assamese, Malayalam, Bengali, Punjabi, apart from Hindi and English.
Radio City is promoting this initiative through its Saturday’s special segment where over 300 artistes will be interviewed, including popular singers like Mohit Chauhan, Kailash Kher, Lucky Ali and more.
