The Hindu Group has released a new ad, assuring readers safety in terms of both -- credible news and a virus-free physical newspaper. At a time when the print industry is grappling with the COVID-19 crisis, rumours that newspapers are carriers of coronavirus have added to its woes. The Hindu Group ad seeks to dispel these myths while assuring the utmost safety to its readers. The ad reads:

In these trying times, when governments, private players and healthcare professionals are making every effort to flatten the Covid-19 curve, we and others in the newspaper industry are working to bring to the people accurate information that crusades against fake news.

The World Health Organisation has said: “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low, and the risk of catching the virus from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperatures is also low.” This goes for your package daily utilities and newspapers as well.

The Group promises that all precautions have been taken with the safety of the reader and last-mile delivery executives in mind.

Fully-automated machinery ensures minimal-to-nil human intervention, which reduces the chances of infections. The ad also assures that the plants are also fumigated and sanitised regularly.

Through the ad, the Group also assures readers that the trained delivery executives are briefed about the dos and don’ts of newspaper delivery at such times.

“They are equipped with sanitsers, maks and gloves, and those unwell will not be on the delivery route,” it further states.

The ad ends with the Group urging the readers to “rely on trusted sources information.”

Earlier, the Times Group CEO Raj Jain had also issued a statement quoting WHO, assuring readers that newspapers are completely safe for perusal.
