Kejriwal supports Majithia Wage Board; appoints special officer to supervise implementation
The decision was taken following a meeting of a delegation of the Wage Board Implementation Sangharsh Samiti with CM of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia
In a latest development related to Justice G R Majithia Wage Board for journalists and other employees of print news and organisations, Government of New Delhi appoints a special officer to supervise the implementation.
According to some of the media reports, the decision was taken following a meeting of a delegation of wage board implementation Sangharsh Samiti with Delhi DM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
It can be recalled that media houses are not satisfied with the decision of giving extra pay to their journalists and other employees as they feel it is not viable. In February last year Supreme Court upheld recommendations made by Justice Majithia wage board for hiking salaries for journalists and other employees in print media and dismissed challenges filed by the managements of different newspapers.
In order to resolve this issue the Delhi CM has directed the department of labour to immediately set up a monitoring committee for regular supervision of wage board implementations.
The report suggests that CM has highlighted the effectiveness of labour law in the capital. The Delhi government will adopt a policy of zero tolerance against organisations which are harming the interests of employees.
