US President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Kari Lake as the director of Voice of America. Lake is a former television news presenter and a hardliner regarding immigration policies.

Trump announced the news on Truth Social.

Lake is a Trump loyalist and often echoes the president-elect’s opinions on topics such as the “stolen election” claims of 2020 and criticisms of media houses pedalling “fake news.”

She was also considered for the Vice President’s role until JD Vance was finally selected.

Voice of America is an international broadcasting state media network run by the government of the United States of America. It’s the country's largest and oldest international broadcaster, producing digital, TV and radio content in 48 languages. It targets non-American audiences outside the USA.
