Shares of Tata Motors began trading under a new name if Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) on Thursday, marking the formal completion of the company’s renaming process following its recent demerger, as per media reports.
The rebranding reflects the structural separation of Tata Motors’ passenger and commercial vehicle businesses, a move aimed at enhancing focus and operational agility within each vertical. The demerger, approved earlier this year, resulted in the creation of two distinct listed entities namely Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Commercial Vehicles Ltd.
The company had earlier clarified that the reorganisation would not impact shareholders, as existing Tata Motors shareholders automatically hold identical stakes in both newly formed entities.
With the name change taking effect from October 24, all trading and related documentation at the stock exchanges will now reflect Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd in place of Tata Motors Ltd.
Tata Motors, part of the Tata Group, had announced the demerger in early 2025 to unlock value and strengthen its passenger vehicle and electric mobility portfolio, which includes the Tata, Jaguar, and Land Rover brands.
