Sony India Private Limited increased its advertising and promotional expenditure by 2.6 per cent in FY25, even as the company reported a marginal decline in profitability during the year, according to its latest financial filings.

Advertising and promotional expenses stood at Rs 183.71 crore in FY25, up from Rs 179.02 crore in the previous financial year, indicating continued investment in brand visibility amid a competitive consumer electronics and entertainment market.

The company reported total revenue from operations of Rs 7,851.08 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 7,663.74 crore in FY24, registering a year-on-year growth of 2.4 percent. Total income, including other income, rose to Rs 7,917.54 crore from Rs 7,727.57 crore a year earlier.

Total expenses for the year increased 2.7 percent to Rs 7,704.58 crore, driven largely by higher purchases of stock-in-trade and increased employee benefit expenses. Employee costs rose 9.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 220.71 crore.

Profit before tax declined 5.5 percent to Rs 212.96 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 225.27 crore in FY24. Net profit for the year stood at Rs 157.03 crore, down 6 percent from Rs 166.99 crore in the previous year.

Total tax expense fell 4 percent year-on-year to Rs 55.93 crore, aided by a sharp reduction in deferred tax outgo.

Despite the pressure on margins, Sony India continued to step up investments behind marketing and promotions, signalling a focus on sustaining brand salience and demand momentum even as costs remained elevated.
