On his birthday today, we celebrate Ajit Belani, a marketer and leader who has spent over two decades helping businesses grow, people connect and technology find its human voice.
Belani currently serves as Director of Growth Marketing at Salesforce India, has over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and customer engagement within the high-tech sector. Along the way, he has built deep expertise in demand generation, digital marketing and marketing automation. More importantly, he has understood something that sits at the heart of all marketing: products may be built by technology, but they are bought by people.
Belani earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics from the University of Mumbai, an Executive MBA in Marketing from IIM Calcutta, and a Business Management degree from The Ohio State University.
Over the years, he has worked with organisations such as Tata Tele Business Services, Eka Software Solutions, Aricent, IBM and others, taking on leadership roles that demanded both vision and execution. Each stop added something to his repertoire: the ability to manage large teams, to understand small and medium businesses, to craft campaigns that resonate and to navigate change with composure.
Belani’s leadership approach combines strategy and empathy. He embraces digital tools and data but never loses sight of the human side of customer experience.
What stands out in his career is the consistency of purpose. In a field where trends shift every quarter and buzzwords come and go, Belani has kept his focus steady: helping businesses grow in sustainable, customer-focused ways. He balances results with relationships, and metrics with meaning. Those who have worked with him describe him not only as a capable marketer but also as a mentor and guide, someone who invests in people as much as he invests in campaigns.
On his birthday, it is worth recognising not just his achievements but the example his journey sets. For young professionals in marketing, his story is proof that careers are built not in leaps but in steady steps, through learning, adaptation and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
