ING Vysya Bank goes viral to promote Earth Hour

In support of the calendar event, Earth Hour that pledges to reduce carbon footprint, ING Vysya Bank has launched an online game, ‘Switch off and save’.
Earth Hour is a yearly international event initiated by World Wide Fund (WWF) to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Supporting the cause means switching off power for an hour and taking a pledge to reduce your carbon footprint. The year this event is on March 31, 2012 from 8.30 pm.
ING Vysya Bank’s online game, ‘Switch off and save’, challenges the player to switch off as many lights as possible in thirty seconds. That way, the player finds out how much energy and money he/she saved. Along with that, an online graffiti board allows visitors to post their ideas on how to save energy.
The bank is also promoting the cause through emails and posters, outdoor advertising campaigns. In addition, it has also initiated citizen candle light effort in partnership with Forum Mall in Koramangala, Bangalore on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Three years back, on the occasion of Earth Hour, the bank took up the challenge of reducing energy consumption and has been successful in reducing the same by 26 per cent. It also reduced water consumption by 10 per cent. The bank has taken up many other energy saving efforts including launching of a solar powered ATM.
