TOI’s “master” blunder: RIP Sachin Tendulkar

Infamous for its editorial typos, The Times of India does it again. And, this time it is much bigger. The newspaper gave an obituary to the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in its story. This is in wake of Tendulkar’s Twitter tribute to Australian Test batsman Phillip Hughes, who tragically died on Monday.

Tendulkar had offered his prayers, “Shocked to hear about Phil. Sad day for cricket. Deepest condolences to family, friends and well wishers. RIP #PhilipHughes”. TOI, in its post, went ahead and printed RIP Sachin Tendulkar.

This editorial error at the national daily’s desk might just make up for one of the biggest blunders in the history of print. Social media is abuzz ridiculing TOI for this editorial error.

TOI has been under the social media scanner for some time now. They had erroneously printed ‘Rahul’ for legendary footballer ‘Raul’ , when Barcelona star Lionel Messi overtook Raul in La Liga. More recently, it started the infamous episode of Deepika Padukone’s Cleavage, and the ruckus still refuses to die down.
