Aptech Limited has entered into a joint venture with Canada based Academy of Learning. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions was signed on January 29, 2004 and the operations are expected to begin in April.
The combined synergies of the two institutions will add a new thrust to the IT and non-IT education space in both Indian and Canadian markets. Students across various disciplines are expected to benefit from the joint venture.
"With a combined history of having trained millions of students, Aptech Limited and Academy of Learning now come together to share their expertise and offer students access to world-class education,” observes Max Lacob, Co Chairman, Academy of Learning.
Pramod Khera, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Aptech adds, “The joint venture marks a significant step in actualising our vision of becoming a global learning corporation. The tie-up will extend our ‘reach’ and enhance our global presence in developed markets. Already well entrenched in IT education, Aptech is foraying into the formal education space. This tie-up will add another dimension to the company’s growing stature as a global learning corporation.”
According to the joint venture agreement, Aptech’s courses will be offered through Academy of Learning, thereby providing Aptech access to Canadian and other developed markets. Secondly, Academy of Learning courses will be offered worldwide through Aptech centres, thereby increasing Aptech’s product basket. Aptech’s learning services division will also develop specific content for its partner, creating a revenue stream for Aptech as well as giving cost advantages to the Canadian institution. New centres offering Aptech and Academy of Learning courses will be set up in the U.S and other developed countries.
