Anuj Gandhi’s Streambox Media Pvt Ltd has ceased its operations and consequently discontinued its subscription-based television service, DOR TV, India’s first subscription TV experiment.

“We regret to inform our users that Streambox Media Private Limited has officially ceased operations, effective May, 2025. As a result, the DOR subscription service, along with the DOR TV App, will no longer be available,” the company said.

According to the company’s announcement, the shutdown affects both the DOR TV subscription service and the DOR TV app, which has now been permanently discontinued.

The company said that users will no longer receive updates, technical support, or customer care assistance for their devices. All warranties for the product have also been declared void.

Despite the shutdown, there is some relief for existing customers. The company clarified that no further payments are required for the service, and the DOR TV device will remain unlocked, allowing users to continue using it as a smart TV.

Streambox Media’s DOR was pitched as a breakthrough in India’s TV landscape, offering a subscription-driven model with bundled entertainment content.

Streambox Media, a strategic media-tech venture founded by Anuj Gandhi and backed by Micromax Informatics with its co-founder Rahul Sharma, along with Nikhil Kamath and Stride Ventures, had unveiled DOR TV in November 2024.

This one-of-its-kind product-as-a-service model went live in India through Flipkart on December 1st, 2024. It integrated a high-performance 4K QLED TV with SVOD OTT streaming platforms, AVOD platforms, Live channels, Gaming, News and more into a single, affordable monthly subscription plan.
